Early at the turn of the century, the year was 1918, a young couple living in Indianapolis, IN heard the word of God . That young couple was Willard and Zelma Holder. They sat under the teaching of the late Bishop G.T. Haywood for eight years after being called into the ministry. They evangelized throughout the state of Indiana and Chicago, IL.
In 1926, a small group of saints were left without a leader, when their Paster, Elder L. Tolbert left Marion. The Chairman of the Apostolic Bible Student Association(ABSA) sent for the Elders Holder and Owens to help the Saints. Cottage prayer meetings were held. They evetually met at the City Hall Building. The Saints desired Elder Holder to be their Pastor. They were worshipping in a little three room house at this point. The house had been purchased by Sis. R. Dodson, who had been praying and seeking the Lord for several weeks before placing a down payment on the house. She wanted it known that it was the will of the Lord that sent Elder and Sister Holder to Marion. Sister Holder said she did not want to come here until the Lord gave her Two scripture which changed her mind. Genesis 12:1 and Acts 7:3.
In 1927, the church was deeded to the Trustees and was named the East Marion Apostolic Faith Church located on Third Street.
The Lord continued to bless and the Church grew. It was soon necessary to look for a larger edifice. In 1942, land was purchased on Race Street. Work began but was halted due to the World War II. After the war was over, worked resumed and in 1945 the church was completed. The name was then changed to Christ Temple Apostolic Church.
As Elder and Sister Holder continued to toil and labor for the Lord, the church continued to grow and soon it was time to look for larger place of worship. The Pastor and Trustees began looking and considering a new site. On April 7, 1970, the Christ Temple Church Family moved into their new and current church home on Adams Street and continues to Praise and Glorify the Lord Of Our Salvation to this date...
